The Foundation’s  betterhealthcaretechnology.org website provides an open forum for health professionals, the public, and the industry.

As part of the Foundation’s support for professional knowledge exchange, the website:

– publishes up-to-date information on the use of technology in healthcare; and

– invites all health disciplines (physicians, surgeons, allied health professionals, and industry representatives) to join in collaborative special interest groups and/or medical research and development activities.

The conventional areas of physical science and engineering in medicine continue to narrow as smaller, faster, and smarter computer powered medical equipment become available. New, innovative medical equipment is making:

– significant improvements in medical practice;

– more effective services for patients; and

– a more economical healthcare system.

There’s a whole range of new technologies and clinical methods that the health profession is in the process of introducing in hospitals. As emerging technologies, research and development provide new fundamental knowledge, significant improvements can be implemented into medical procedures. It’s important to facilitate strong professional collaboration, linked to research and development at the hospital coalface, during this early process.

The End Goal

The end goal is to create health professional new technology, methods, or techniques to translating it to approved enhanced patient healthcare. It requires close collaboration of health professionals working in hospitals, universities, and industry to close the gap and fast-track when safely implementing any complex new healthcare technology.
