Our Research Objectives

The Better Healthcare Technology Foundation aims to promote Australian and New Zealand research and development in the physical, engineering and other associated sciences in medicine.

Foundation Activities in 2022

Topical Lecture Series

The Foundation has introduced a Topical Lecture Series to promote research and development in the physical and engineering sciences in medicine. the series has the primary remit of helping support its members, who are predominately medical physicists and biomedical engineers, in R&D activities. Quarterly webinar lectures are arranged for during the year on challenging cross-disciplinary topics.

Medical Research and Development

The professional expertise and interests of physical scientists and engineers overlap considerably when working in medicine, and health professionals need to continually update their knowledge as technical advances become new clinical tools.

Some example topics that Better Healthcare Technology Foundation invites you to explore on our website are:

– Adaptive radiotherapy;

– Artificial intelligence (many specialties);

– Biomarkers (surgery and imaging);

– Image resolution and fusion (surgery, radiotherapy, cardiology, and diagnostic imaging);

– 3D printing (rehabilitation surgery);

– Targeted radiotherapies (radiopharmacy and cyclotron technology);

– Tumour tracking (radiotherapy);
