Our annual StravaArt FunRun is now part of ARSENIC, the Foundation’s new expanded creative art competition encouraging artistic submissions across a range of creative media from members of the medical science profession.

Now along with photos, drawings, textile and mixed media creations, you can submit a GPS map journey image for the ARSENIC competition.  As per last year’s Virtual FunRun, you can create a piece of GPS Art by walking, running, cycling, (even rowing and canoeing) whilst mapping your route using a GPS tracker, phone, fitness watch etc.

Your GPS-art could be medical physics related, a symbol of your work or just any impressive pattern.

There may be a 5km or 10k exercise limit under lockdown – but how you undertake your journey (CovidSafe😊) is up to you. Feel free to plot solo runs, dog walks, bush trails, cycles, swims, aqua exertions or work team-building adventures, – whatever takes your fancy that can be mapped and submitted as a journey image!

To qualify for our ARSENIC competition, once you have recorded your GPS journey, we need you to covert the route map generated into a JPEG image format and submit this as an uploaded file into the competition entry portal. (Link here).

You can also upload photos taken along the way – sweaty selfies, interesting landmarks or pics of cute pets welcome!

You’ll find all the details of the ARSENIC competition and guide for uploading your entry submission at our competition webpage.

Whilst official submission is via the competition website, posting trip images on your social media with the hashtag #APSIGFunRun and #ARSENIC is also encouraged as a way of spreading the joy of this event to your social networks.

For those that may need a refresher or are new to GPS art – we have a handy starter guide explaining how to choose a suitable app and how to get yourself set up.  For further guidance you can also visit https://www.atozrunning.com/how-to-make-strava-art/

We look forward to seeing the creative results of your GPS trip adventures in our ARSENIC Med Sci Art competition this year.
