The website, betterhealthcaretechnology.org is operated by the Better Healthcare Technology Foundation (BHT) as a not-for-profit organisation of the ACPSEM Foundation Ltd (ABN 19 956 932 647).

Scope

What the website journal does:

The website is designed to complement the research journals.
Articles are written by invited physicists, engineers or other associated scientists who are considered specialists in the healthcare technology field and written in plain English.
Editorial board members act as reviewers of grammar, scientific errors and as critics of writing that is not in plain-English.

Improving academic and practical skills and learning to provide plain-English articles are important benefits for health professionals employed in the workforce.

What doesn’t the website journal do:

The website journal does not have articles reporting on novel research such as would be submitted to fully peered journals; and
is not acting in opposition to journal publications; and
the Foundation does not intend to appoint scientific reviewers, except that:
- editorial board members will act as reviewers of grammar, scientific errors and as critics of writing that is not in plain-English.

This website is maintained by BHT for personal viewing and use. For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, all references to the “user” are to any person who accesses or uses this website or any of the services provided by it, whether on their own behalf or on behalf of an organization or institution that they represent.

Subscribers

To access or use certain parts of the BHT Network, you must register as a subscriber of the BHTF Network and/or a particular website that forms part of the BHT Network.

The BHT may refuse registration of users whose suggested login names are considered inappropriate, impersonating another person or attempting to create multiple accounts for or on behalf of a suspended member.

You may terminate your account at any time by unsubscribing (where that option is available) or by contacting the BHT Administrative Secretary. However, your content may continue to be available online after termination.

When registering as a subscriber, you must provide us with accurate, complete and up-to-date information, as requested. It is your responsibility to inform us of any changes to your registration information. We will treat your personal information strictly in accordance with our Privacy Policy

BHT may at any time request a form of identification to verify your identity.

You must ensure the security and confidentiality of your membership details, including any username and/or password assigned to you. You are wholly responsible for all activities which occur as your subscriber details (including unauthorised use of your credit card). You must notify BHT immediately if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your subscriber details. You must not permit your subscriber details be used by or transferred to any other person.

BHT reserves the right to, at sole discretion, suspend or terminate your subscriber access to all or any part of the BHT Network, including if believed that you are abusing the services in any way, have breached the Conditions or are no longer an active subscriber.

The BHT may suspend or block your account if you breach the Terms of Use.

User conduct

All users will use this website only in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and only for lawful purposes and in a lawful manner.

If the user submits information for display on this website then they are responsible for ensuring that it is true, accurate, complete and up to date, and for updating it whenever necessary. The user is also responsible for ensuring that no data are uploaded or submitted that are defamatory, obscene, abusive or otherwise objectionable or in breach of any applicable laws or third-party rights.

By submitting data for display on this website, the user warrants that they have taken all reasonable precautions to ensure that they are free from viruses and anything else that might have a contaminating or destructive effect on any part of this website or any other technology.

(d) interfere with, disrupt, or create an undue burden on the BHT Network;

(e) use any robot, spider, or other device or process to retrieve, index, or in any way reproduce, modify or circumvent the navigational structure, security or presentation of the BHT Network;

(f) frame or mirror any part of the BHT Network without prior written authorisation;

(g) except to the extent permitted by law, modify, adapt, sublicense, translate, sell, reverse engineer, decipher, decompile or otherwise disassemble any portion of the BHT Network or cause any other person to do so; or

(h) delete any attributions or legal or proprietary notices on the BHT Network.

If you breach these Terms of Use, the BHT may block your account or contributions.

Your Material

The BHT may edit, remove or exercise its discretion not to publish your contribution for legal, editorial or operational reasons.

By uploading, transmitting, posting or otherwise making available any Material via the BHT Network (other than personal data that are covered by BHT’s Privacy Policy), you:

(a) grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, licence to use, reproduce, edit and exploit the Material in any form and for any purpose;

(b) warrant that you have the right to grant the abovementioned licences;

(d) unconditionally waive all moral rights (as defined by the Copyright Act 1968) which you may have in respect of the Material.

BHT reserves the right (but have no obligation) to:

review, modify, reformat, reject or remove any Material which you upload, post, transmit or otherwise make available (or attempt to upload, post, transmit or otherwise make available) that, in our opinion, violates the Conditions or otherwise has the potential to harm, endanger or violate the rights of any person; and
monitor use of the BHT Network, and store or disclose any information that we collect, including in order to investigate compliance with the Conditions or for the purposes of any police investigation or governmental request.

We are not responsible for, and accept no liability with respect to, any Material uploaded, posted, transmitted or otherwise made available on the BHT Network by any person other than us. For the avoidance of doubt, we will not be taken to have uploaded, posted, transmitted or otherwise made Material available on the BHT Network simply by facilitating others to post, transmit or other make Material available. Furthermore, BHT does not endorse any opinion, advice or statement made by any person other than BHT.

Contributing Content

You are responsible for all content you contribute to any BHT Online Services, including text, photos, videos, audio and links (Your Content).

By contributing content to any BHT Online Service, you grant the BHT a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use Your Content in any way that we want, and in any media worldwide. This may include the use of your photos or video by BHT. You retain copyright and any other rights you hold in Your Content and can continue to share and commercialise Your Content as you wish.

You confirm you own or have the right to use any copyright material included in Your Content (including music, photos, quotes and excerpts of audio or video), that you have permission of anyone appearing or performing in Your Content and that you are not infringing any person’s rights by submitting the content to the BHT. Video Player

BHT may allow you to share or embed some of the content in a BHT Video Player on third party sites. Such content may not be used for commercial purposes except with our prior written consent, and content may only be shared or embedded in accordance with the functionality of the Video Player. BHT donations or purchases are transmitted through a secure PayPal server or direct bank transfer to the BHT bank account.
