Nuclear Medicine Therapy for Prostate Cancer

When prostate cancer spreads to the bones of the body, it’s technically more difficult to treat. Australian clinicians and researchers have established a pharmaceutically labelled radioactive isotope to treat these cases

The project involves the collaborative work of Peter MacCallum Hospital, the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO), Monash University, the University of Melbourne, Queensland University of Technology and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Western Australia.

From very positive results obtained in recent Australian trials, the research group have announced the launching of a world clinical trial for the treatment of prostate cancer patients with widespread bone metastases.
