Scientia Professor Nigel Lovell is currently Head of the Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering, UNSW. He works in the areas of bionics, biomonitoring and physiological modelling.

He was recently appointed inaugural Director of the newly formed Tyree Foundation Institute of Health Engineering (https://ihealthe.unsw.edu.au).

The Institute’s vision is:

To create a transformational engine of discovery, innovation and healthcare translation.

Professor Lovell’s research and development work includes expertise across web-enabling technologies, telehealth apps, biomedical instrumentation, biological signal processing and health data analytics to name just a few. When COVID-19 spread world-wide and affected Australians, Professor Lovell decided to adapt their existing telehealth medicine network to remotely monitor COVID-19 patients in their homes.
