10-Year Celebration!

APSIG is turning 10 this year and continues to do great work in the Asia-Pacific region.

APSIG has a vital role to play in increasing cancer patients’ access to radiotherapy in low-to-middle income countries of the Asia-Pacific.

We rely on your continuing support to help.

What Does APSIG Do?

APSIG organises volunteer medical physicist assignments to low/middle countries in our region to provide teaching, new equipment installation guidance, and setting up of treatment planning programs for local radiotherapy centres.  We also support remote mentoring, donations of equipment, and visits of Asia-Pacific medical physicists to Australia and NZ for conferences and hospital training.

What has APSIG Achieved?

Since its inception in 2009 APSIG has been able to assist in funding over a dozen professional support assignments by Medical Physicists to lower / middle income countries in our region.

These assignments – from 4 weeks up to 1 year placements – have helped under-resourced hospital radiotherapy centres in Mynamar, PNG, Cambodia, Philippines, Vietnam and Mongolia.

We help build capacity of their radiotherapy staff to provide higher quality, more accessible local radiation oncology treatment services for their communities.

Our volunteers would not have been able to undertake this great work without your support.

Future Work Goals?

APSIG would also like to expand its work into areas beyond radiation oncology and help promote access to quality healthcare across a broader range of radiotherapy services.  We are driven by our mission to bridge the current divide in access to the latest clinical tools and treatment technologies in medical physics across the Asia-Pacific region.
